Well Monday and Tuesday were fabulous days! I worked out hard and therefore my legs were dead on Wednesday and Thursday. So, I used that excuse to not workout; however, I will say that this past week has been hectic! I teach all day then teach and after school reading program on Tuesday's and Thursday's and then I've been going straight to house hunting and not returning home until 7:00. By that time I'm pooped and have no energy... not to mention my legs still aren't working! BUT the house hunt is over! We found an apartment 11 floors below the place I'm in now! It's perfect! So I woke up this morning at 5:15 popped Tony into the dvd player and kicked some major butt! I feel great, it's Friday, we're having a birthday celebration for yours truly at school and my parents are coming today! All in all a great way to start a wonderful weekend! (Pray I can stay good on my diet!)

I'll miss you Hilary! But I'll see you in a few weeks for our race!!

Happy Friday!

Day 3 - No time but I can still work out!

It's day 3 and I'm quickly remembering why this is a commitment. It's not that I don't enjoy it, because I do - every time I work out I always say "that's great! I'm so glad I did it." But on days where I'm busy or tired, it's easy for this to be at the bottom of my to do list because I can't immediately see the results like a lower weight on the scale or 6 pack abs. Yesterday when I got home I crashed - HARD. I had no energy and I talked myself in to not working out. Now - on the positive side - I also talked myself out of a glass of wine and I stuck to my diet.

Today, I came home from work and knew that I had to make dinner and meet the girls out at 730. Then I remembered that my girl Challene from Turbo Fire does a HIT work out. It's 15 minutes but it's High Intensity (HIT) and man is it a challenge. I also decided to do a longer stress and go through some of the yoga I did with Christina while I was in Houston. I got my heart rate up, kicked ass and still got dinner on the table by 630!

Lesson of the day: You have time for anything you want to do. You have to make yourself a priority. And there's a lesson in there about patience to but I'm not ready to learn that one yet :)

An introduction

Growing up, my little sister would never have used the words athletic or coordinated to describe me, her old sister by 2 years. See, I was in to substantially less cool and less active activities like debate and cello. I did throw a mean discus and shotput but I had bad knees and had always been told to take it easy. Meanwhile, my sister was tearing up the softball field and trying lacrosse and then in college she got in to biking and hiking and camping and flag football.

SO. I two years ago I decided to hell with it. I was tired of being on the side lines, tired of blaming it on my knees and hating the way that I looked. I started small - I did the Monument Ave 10K with a good friend and we ran/walked it in 75 minutes. I was just happy that I finished it. But it gave me a goal - the next year I would beat that goal. In that year, I started walking with my friend Mary and going to body pump at Gold's - I also joined Weight Watchers. I lost 16 pounds and felt better but then I met my goal and I convinced myself that I could reward myself with food. I thrive on challenge. And though I was thinner, I wasn't being challenged.

This is where my beachbody.com obsession started. My husband and I tried Power 90 with Tony Horton and even though it looked so simple and way too easy - it was challenging and hard and my life no longer revolved around the class schedule at Gold's or what the weather was like outside. And it worked - I lost 20 pounds, and 18 inches. After that was over, a friend lent me Insanity - LOVE! Kendayl and I ran the 10K in 2010 in 60:30 - 15 minute improvement. And I beat my tri time by 3 minutes. This year, we're going for 58 minutes (55 if we're feeling really good!). My biggest goal is to run with Kendayl and not make her slow down - one of these days Ken, I promise!

I'm doing a variety of work outs at the moment:
Turbo Fire and Power 90 (both beachbody)
Running
Bootcamp

In this past 2 years, I've learned several things: It really is a lifestyle change (I can't keep starting and stopping - it's all or nothing), challenging yourself with new goals and trying new things is a must because it keeps it interesting and having someone to be accountable to is imperative.

Current body fat: 30.3%,
Current weight loss: 0
Days in: 1

Today's work out: Fire 30 Turbo Fire, 10am & Power 90 Sculpt 1-2 7pm

I'm backkkkkk

Well followers I'm back! Tony and I are hanging out again and I'm ready for my beach body back! Last spring/summer I was very happy with how I looked! I was toned and felt great! Vacation and work set in and my 90 days was up and sustaining the daily regime was difficult. I continued to work out just about everyday (some weeks less) and really tried hard to eat healthy (with a few slips up here and there... hey, I'm human!)
Because last time I was so successful I thought why not do it again?! I love setting goals and reaching them. Last year I ran 3 or 4 half marathons, a few smaller races, and a triathlon with my sister. Needless to say I was burnt out by the end of the summer. While I loved reaching all of those goals and will continue running I need something different. I have done Tony before, as I said but I really loved the results.
So, here I am again... on a journey to feel good, look good, and make smarter decisions when eating. My sister is on this journey with me as well and I couldn't be happier! She's such an inspiration and motivator! She's not doing Tony, she chose another workout program, but both have very strict diets and workout plans.

Today went great! 1 down 89 to day!:)
