OUR home sweet home

I have been waiting to post about our new home for so long but until the keys were handed over we agreed to keep the cyber world waiting (even though I told everyone I know months ago... oops!)
On December 15, 2011 we bought our first home! Technically it's a townhouse but none-the-less our HOME! It is a move-in ready home but we can't wait to get out little DIY hands on her and make her our own. The previous owner hadn't lived in the house in 3 years because he moved away for his job, so as you can imagine the house was in GREAT shape. To say there was no "style" or "personality" in the home would be an understatement. It was a sterile, boring, and a lonely little place. It was dying for a little TLC. And don't you worry we plan to bring some life back into her and make her into a place that we can call OUR home. Here are some pictures to show you the BEFORE and as we embark on the journey of fixing her up I'll be sure to capture all the good, bad, and ugly moments of this new adventure of home ownership! Enjoy!
Side note: all of these photos are from the realty website and will soon be transformed by the future Fissel's:)

Well folks! There ya have it! A look into our new casa and the future of the Fissel family!:) I can't begin to explain how excited I am to take this next step of being engaged and owning our own home! It's going to be a fun, bumpy, and exciting time in our lives and I plan to share as much of it as I can with y'all.

**As of today our house was painted! It's so cool how a little paint can completely change the look and feel of a room. I'll be sure to post pictures once I get the photos from Mike's camera... and considering I never posted about my Fall party should be an indication that I have a lot of hounding to do. Wish me luck!

I, like a lot of people these days, are obsessed with Pinterest. The ideas and possibilities are endless! I will say it makes narrowing down ideas and making decisions way more difficult for me! (no shocker there) Recently I have been pinning wedding ideas onto my board with the help of my sister and 2 best friends Katlyn and Julie.
The funny thing is, is that I've changed my mind evolved my color theme ideas. Is that normal? Did your ideas change once you got engaged/during the planning process? I was dead set on navy and yellow and now I want more of a rustic wood, champagne, ivory, and white colored scheme. My sister has some really cute ideas so that I can still incorporate the navy and yellow (our fun side) and have a romantic and elegant feel as well.
Here are some of my our ideas thus far:

Sorry about the pictures being all over the place... my computer is being difficult.

These are just some ideas I'm thinking about for the reception area. I have some other "fun" ideas for the cocktail hour that I'll get to later.
Apparently, according to my wedding planner (aka my sister) I have a budget and everything I want may not fit that so called "budget".  I don't know about her but I live in a dream land and everything fits into that budget. (ha! I wish!) However, she made a spreadsheet for us to get a feel for what things cost and how fast things can add up and we're already over budget and guess what... WE HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED PLANNING IT YET! oy ve!

Needless to say we're so excited to get started! As of today... February 11 will be the start of our venue search! More on those locations later:)

Feel free pin some ideas on Pinterest or leave some ideas on my comments:) The more the merrier!

The best day EVER!

Thursday, December 15, 2011 was by far the best day of my life!

Here's the run down of what happened....

1. We bought a house  (more pictures to come!)
2. WE GOT ENGAGED!!!

The center stone was my Great Aunt Dixie's :)

Reg and I :)

I look back at these pictures and it makes me so giddy! Like most girls you dream of the day you get engaged, how it will happen, what he'll say, how he'll do it, everything; and then it happens and it's better then anything you have ever dreamt!

Mike thought it would be fun to continue the suspense of seeing the new house until after dinner... I thought this was a dumb idea but followed along. We went to this great Thai place for dinner and couldn't stop talking about the new house and how excited we were to get in there and get things done. After dinner we drove to the house like giddy school kids. We pulled up and it was OURS!!! We walked through the front door and then Mike said, "wait come back I want to carry you over the threshold". So I walked back outside and he carried me over the threshold like they do in movies (it was perfect!) I didn't think anything of it because I just thought he was excited that it was finally ours. As we walked up the stairs I noticed some red things on the floor (later to be identified as rose petals) he walked around in front of me holding my arms and said something along the lines of "Kendayl I love you so much and I want to spend the rest of my life with you". He dropped to one knee and said "Kendayl will you marry me?".  I cried and cried and cried. I couldn't believe it... Mike Fissel was asking me to marry him... in OUR NEW home! I squeaked out a yes and jumped in his arms! It was truly a moment I will never forget in my whole life!
Both of our parents had gone in on a house warming basket with wine, toilet paper, candles, etc. and had some flowers waiting for us. His aunt and uncle and their kids had made us a sign and some brownies as well.  It was perfect!
After attempting to get in touch with everyone I had thought I would always call my bestie Regina and her hubby Antonio came over to celebrate with us! Later on that night Mike's parents came over to see the house, ring, and their newly engaged son and daughter in-law to be!

I could go on and on about this day and I'm sure I will later on:) I mean we do have to plan our wedding!! (eeek!!!)

I keep reminding Mike that we're getting married, as if he didn't know! It's just so much fun! I'm going to be a wife!

I'll have lots of posts about wedding and house updates soon!!!!

Thank you for all the love, congratulations, and support! We are so unbelievable excited and can't wait to start the next chapter in our lives together:)
